Today, UD Trucks announced the launch of its “Extra Mile Stories” campaign. A part of various activities during the year of UD Trucks’ 80th Anniversary, the Extra Mile Stories campaign consists of testimonial videos, leaflets and a special campaign microsite on its official website (http://www.udtrucks.com/en-int/news-and-media/extra-mile-stories).
The purpose of the Extra Mile Stories campaign is to provide customers and those involved in the transportation business with valuable information and useful insights on how to cope with today’s challenges in the transportation industry and in society, such as fuel efficiency, uptime, emissions, driver shortages and safety. The Extra Mile Stories explains how transport companies, business managers and drivers are making extra efforts to deal with these challenges, and how UD Trucks’ products, services and gemba experts go the extra mile to support them.
The Extra Mile Stories campaign graphics were developed to symbolize how UD Trucks listens to and communicates with the customers and the people in the gemba, the frontline workers where the value is born.
For the launch of the Extra Mile Stories campaign, two stories from Japan were selected:
- Condor: Titled “4 reasons why Condor is safe and comfortable” the story explores the challenges of a UD Trucks’ customer and how the safety and comfort of the Condor medium-duty truck contributes to meet these challenges, as told by company executives and a driver. A UD Trucks lead developer explains how UD engineers have gone the extra mile to contribute to safety and comfort from a product development point of view.
- Quon: Under the theme “4 reasons why Quon is perfect” the president and a driver of another UD Trucks customer explain how the new Quon truck meets their needs for fuel efficiency, safety, loading capacity and drivability. A UD Trucks lead developer explains the development of the new Quon and how they achieved improved quality of transport.
The next Extra Mile Stories from Japan will cover “Fuel Efficiency" and "ESCOT-V", UD Trucks’ leading automated manual gearbox. Future Extra Mile Stories will also include overseas UD customers and products.
UD Trucks President, Yoshihiro Murakami commented that, "Through the Extra Mile Stories Campaign, we expect to build a deeper relationship with our customers and be trusted more than ever in the transportation industry. By listening to candid customer voices, we are able to refocus our mindset which motivates us even more to continue to meet our customers’ expectations and provide them with the best products and services.”
80 years ago, founder Kenzo Adachi had a vision to create “the truck the world needs today”. During this year’s 80th anniversary, UD Trucks inaugurated the new UD Experience Center and the new UD Trucks headquarters in Ageo. Through the Extra Mile Stories Campaign and by continuing to provide solutions to today’s logistic industry needs, UD Trucks aims to support the transport industry in line with the company’s current vision “Going the Extra Mile for Smart Logistics”.
